Experience the fun-filled family spectacular BIG the Musical this autumn. Based on the smash-hit movie starring Tom Hanks, BIG makes its West End premiere at the Dominion Theatre from September 2019. Starring Jay McGuiness (The Wanted, winner of Strictly Come Dancing), Wendi Peters (Coronation Street), Kimberley Walsh (Girls Aloud) and Matthew Kelly (Cold Blood, Benidorm) will star as Mrs Baskin, Susan Lawrence and George MacMillan.
Josh Baskin is twelve and life sucks, until one night at a carnival his wish to be big is granted. Now, trapped in an adult body in a grown-up world, he’s asking: is being BIG all it’s cracked up to be?
Don’t miss the hilarious, heart-warming BIG hearted musical as it lights up London for nine weeks only.
If you make a wish this autumn - make sure it’s a BIG one.
Brilliant..Enjoyed every minute
What a great show! Jay was amazing as was young Josh and Billy! Would definitely recommend
Disappointing show kids didn’t enjoy it
Good night out, enjoyable for all ages, little slow at times, an was very good but I did feel it dragged on a bit. Did notice almost half of the seats on top circle were empty ...felt they should had moves us to the front for better views.
I read bad reviews of this new musical. I went in with low expectations but it turned out to be a great experience. Visually it is stunning. The set design is modern and filmic. It is not an emotional experience more fun and joyous just like the film.
Enjoyed the musical however felt the first half was more entertaining than the second. Not much of a story to the second half. I also felt the mother could have had a bigger role.
Really enjoyed it
A fun and entertaining musical extravaganza. Brilliant dancing and songs. with a wonderful cast.
The musical was fun and entertaining but some scenes a bit slow and not exciting.
What a fantastic show from start to finish ! Highly recommend for those who were a big fan of the Tom Hanks film many years ago !
I love the film and was SO looking forward to seeing the musical version. It was good but could have been better...we felt it wasn't as funny as could have been and I thought the caviar scene was wasted...Jay was good but Tom Hanks is a hard act to follow...and the songs were mostly a bit mediocre.
Great show with plenty of songs! Enjoyable for all ages. Kimberly Walsh was an amazing singer.
A great entertaining show, all the stars were exceptional, dancing and vocals superb. The child performers outstanding, an enjoyable two and half hours.
first half brilliant with great effects very true to the movie. I had a great sense of nostalgia after watching the movie in my childhood. Piano scene was BRILLIANT! Second half the plot got a bit weaker but still a great afternoon out :)
Was so sad to see this. So much was cut out and order messed about with. It completely ruined it..Not all the singing was that great. If you love the film I wouldn't go because you will be gutted.
Very enjoyable family show, the two lead lads were fabulous.
From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed this show. Best show we’ve recently seen. The cast were amazing and I would recommend anyone to go.
Excellent performance by all concerned in the production. True performance to the film
I didn’t really enjoy this musical. I found it very disappointing. Kimberley and Jay were amazing vocally but I found the whole show lacked something. I rarely dislike a musical but I wasn’t keen on this at all. The musical score wasn’t particularly good and there was nothing that made you sing or hum along. Most musicals you leave with a tune you can’t get out of your head.
Big the musical was funny, honest and made everyone remember what it was like to be 12. The music was great, the acting was even better. Only reason its not a 5 star, is because some scenes felt rushed, they tried to get rid of many plot holes from the film which meant certain things got lost. Overall was a great night out.
We loved this show , the staging , acting , singing & dancing 😊 it’s a feel good show & very nostalgic. Jay McGuiness is understated, natural & very watchable, & the rest of the cast are great too . Great escapism 👍
BIG lives up to its name, big performances, great music and fantastic dancing. The kids in the show really blow you away with their great acting singing and dancing. Highly recommend this show.
The show was great. Lots of dancing from Jay. Brilliant story with wonderful singing from a fab cast and young actors too. Good for all ages.
AMAZING CAST AMAZING SET AND LIGHTING DESIGNS AND FANTASTIC MUSIC ME AND MY PREGNANT WIFE LOVED EVERY MINUT EVEN THE BABY WAS KICKING TO THE MUSIC
I had been looking forward to seeing this show as I'm a huge fan of the film. Unfortunately, although the cast did their best (especially Kimberley Walsh who was fantastic), the songs were all very bland and forgettable and the whole show felt a bit flat. There were no real magical moments. I'm really glad I didn't pay full price for my tickets.
Jay and all the cast were amazing. Loved every moment.
This production was disappointing, vocal performances were poor with the exception of Kimberley Walsh. The cast tried their best to bring life to the stage but the main cast members weren’t up to the usual standard of west end performers. I wouldn’t recommend this production
Very upbeat enjoyable musical. Jay and Kimberley were particularly good. Sets and set changes were excellent.
Great storyline which follows the film plot well. Some good songs but no stand out songs you will remember in the weeks/months to come. The “piano dance” part was great but thought the dinner party scene was unnecessary and just felt like it was a time filler. Overall it was a good show and very entertaining and enjoyable but but not one that will become a classic.
Really enjoyed watching BIG, especially growing up watching the film back in the late 80's. My kids haven't seen the film, and they really enjoyed themselves too! Shame its only on for a limited time as I would have gone to see it again.
Absolutely brilliant show, we had good seats.Although back of stalls we had a good view of the stage and the best part was plenty of leg room .
Had a fantastic time at BIG and the cast really brought the show to life. Enjoyed it from start to finish highly recommended
We really enjoyed it but may be our children would have been a little bored in the 2nd half
What a brilliant show took my daughter for a girls day out an dit was perfect we loved it and great people init
Enjoyable evening. Very nice. Great performances. None of the songs were catchy enough to stick in my head though.
Absolutely brilliant show, very good actors and very lively show . Would definitely recommend!
A wonderful show for all the family with a real feel good vibe! Entertaining, upbeat and perfectly cast! A must see for any ‘BIG’ fan!
Rather disappointing. Felt that Jay McG. was not fully invested in the part. Sad to realise the iconic "piano" dance was pre.set rather than activated by their feet ! Also difficult to know where to pitch the audience, as it is clearly not for children. As some of the critics have said, the sexual politics are tricky.. I am a lover of musicals so was sorry this fell short.
Brilliant lighthearted production with plenty of feel-good music, with excellent actors and comedic moments, a show for all ages.
The actors did an amazing job and overall it was entertaining & fun - what slightly lacked was the strength of the script; the story line felt a little hollow.
I loved the show. BIG was a feelgood show with great music and all the actors were brilliant! I definitely recommend it and I am planning to see it again!
I don't think the magic works: Josh voice is insecure and choreographies are too often approximative. And no offense the mother looks more like a grandmother.
I know it says 'Musical' we have been to so many other musical, this one seems to have more singing than acting. Also, I don't think there had been enough rehearsals because there were times when some was not on time with there moves and especially the piano moment, way off time with the tune.
It was amazing
Great first half. Slightly bloated second half means that I knocked a star off. But Jay McGuiness is a total star. He made me forget Tom Hanks ( no easy feat )
What an evening, I bought tickets for my wife’s birthday the day before. She loves the film, I’ve never seen it - frankly I went to keep her happy! From the moment we netted the Dominion I was blown away, a beautiful theatre, incredibly friendly staff, the the show started... What an incredible set, the revolve is amazing, matched with stunning lighting and backdrop images. The planetarium scene blew me away, it’s so difficult to do it justice! Special mention to the changes when Josh grows and especially shrinks were seamless and slick. The entire cast were obviously enjoying themselves, especially the. children. Jay McGuiness and Kimberley Walsh were excellent as the leads, however the entire cast played to an extraordinary standard. I’m so glad we went, I think I might even have enjoyed it more than my wife!
This show EXCEEDED expectations. Great cast, great music and an ingenious set. I think there is something for everyone. Just a lovely feel good show which maybe could bring out the child in you!
Such a lovey atmosphere and great actors
