What’s Back To The Future: The Musical about?
Welcome to Hill Valley, California! It’s 1985 – and typical teenager Marty McFly’s in big trouble. Not only is his family on the skids, his band’s just been rejected too. Enter eccentric scientist Doc Brown, Marty’s mad inventor friend who’s just created a Time Machine from a modified DeLorean sports car. It’s powered by Plutonium, tricked out of the hands of international terrorists. So, what could possible go wrong? When the terrorists return for their nuclear booty, Marty has to escape in the DeLorean. Accidentally triggering time travel, he’s catapulted back in time to 1955…unwittingly changing the entire course of history.
Now, it’s a race against time for Marty McFly to fix the present, escape from the past and somehow get himself…back to the future.
Back To The Future The Musical has been adapted from the iconic 1980s movie for the stage by the film’s creators, Bob Gale (Back to the Future trilogy) and Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump). The creative team includes Tony Award winning director, John Rando, double Tony and Olivier award winning set and costume designer Tim Hatley, with lighting design by Olivier Award winner Tim Lutkin.
Back To The Future: The Musical stars Olly Dobson as Marty McFly, stepping into the sneakers made so famous in the movie by Michael J Fox.

Back To The Future - The Musical reviews
Possibly the best musical I have seen. The visuals and sound are stunning
Characters were really into their part especially Marty, the professor was brilliant would definitely recommend a visit and staff in the Adelphi theatre were very good.
Amazing performance props car and actors/actresses all amazing. Theatre was beautifully clean friendly staff and we lived the art deco. A lovely afternoon.Thank you.
Me and two friends discovered the musical scene with Back to the Future. Visiting London from Switzerland, we knew nothing about the musical culture and were quite intrigued. Let's say we were extremely well surprised by the show in this stunning theatre! The effects that are used are mind-blowing, the singers/performers are talented and the plot respects the original film. We loved everything about it. Do not hesitate, you won't regret it.
Absolutely brilliant
Absolutely brilliant! Loved by all ages!!
Such a good show! Great songs, great story, all the characters were amazing. Great set, would recommend to all!
As a last minute booking ( arranged event cancelled) did not know what to expect. This is a musical comedy which even kept my husband amused ( not an easy job ), definitely worth a trip.
The best musical I have ever seen!
Saw this on Thursday it was brilliant definitely recommend it if you want to see a good show
Totally brilliant! Loved everything about this show. Acting superb
What a great show and the special affects where amazing, really loved it
My daughter and I absolutely loved this show from start to finish. The cast were fantastic especially Marty and Doc. And the special effects were unbelievably good. To be recommended.
This is well worth saving up for! Very true to the film with lead actors who’ve really studied the film character they play and yet the show adds a great deal more through the music, song and excellent dancers. The stage set and special effects are really creative and add to the overall entertainment value. I was very emotional at the end; cried in fact as it’s so good to be back in the West End after the Covid years . What a show to re- start my love of the West End. Thank you!
One of the best musicals I’ve ever seen, great retelling of the story with a few changes that helps bringing it to theatre. Would see it again
Cast and special effects brilliant!
Brilliant from start to finish. A must see!!
Took my 11 year old twins for their birthday present, and have to say it's easily the best show I've ever seen. The cast were matched to a tee especially Marty, his Mum and George Mcfly absolutely stole the show. 10/10 and the end had the whole theatre screaming in delight. Excellent
I bought tickets for my hubby, who’s a big fan. Went along for the ride as I’ve never seen the film from start to finish. I absolutely fell in love with the show. Hilarious, fast, funny, brilliant staging and superb acting and singing. Loved it.
Absolutely amazing!! Spot on!! Great effects, great acting great everything. The Orchestra and band were amazing and spot on with it all. Will differently be booking again and will recommend to many
Felt like I was part of the performance. Quite possibly the best musical I have ever seen
Fantastic show with amazing special effects. Funny, exciting and cleverly done. Talented actors and dancers with a true likeness and mannerisms to the original characters in the film.
We thoroughly enjoyed this excellent musical, which was a very belated Christmas present. The car, visual/sound effects and cast were amazing, plus the show had a great sense humour!
Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant. Surpassed my expectations. As a die hard trilogy fan, I wasn’t sure how this Experiance would pan out! Trying to emulate Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd! The cast didn’t need to try. They put their own stamp on the story. The song added to the show. Jennifer and Doc Brown were outstanding. The effects at the end of the show blew my mind. The best musical I’ve seen. Thanks for the Experiance. Brendan Mason. Taunton
